How to crochet this summer сardigan with lace squares:
Size: 40
Materials:
500 g of yarn (100% viscose, 500 m/100 g) in blue; blue satin fabric; fusible interfacing; decorative buckle; snap button; crochet hook 1.2 mm; sewing needle.
Written Instructions:
Before starting, prepare full-size sewing patterns of all parts and adjust them to your own measurements.
Crochet a test square following the chart and check whether it matches the required dimensions.
If necessary, adjust the size by using a larger or smaller hook.
Crochet the motifs and join them at the points indicated by arrows as shown in chart A.
Instead of the middle chain stitch in arches made of 3 chains, work 1 slip stitch into the middle chain of the corresponding arch of the neighboring square.
In arches made of 5 chains, replace the 3 central chains with 3 slip stitches worked into the matching chains of the neighboring motif.
Begin by assembling the upper connected part consisting of the front pieces, back, and sleeves.
Refer to diagram a for the arrangement of the motifs.
Suggested assembly order:
For the right sleeve, crochet and join two squares in a row. Join the third square on both sides to the first and second to form a ring.
Join the fourth square to the first, the fifth to the fourth and second, the sixth to the fifth, third, and fourth, and so on.
To widen the sleeve along the armholes, insert an additional motif placed diagonally.
Work the left sleeve in the same way.
Continue working from the finished sleeves, forming a single piece for the front and back by joining motifs according to the sewing pattern.
For the neckline, crochet two triangles by dividing a basic square motif diagonally (chart B).
Next step:
Work the lower continuous part of the jacket.
First, crochet and join 12 squares into a strip.
Then crochet vertical strips starting from each square.
Join the finished strips using a “diagonal mesh” with single crochets as follows:
1 single crochet into the first stitch of the first strip, 2 chains, 1 single crochet into the first stitch of the second strip, 1 single crochet into the third stitch of the second strip, turn.
2 chains, 1 single crochet under the 2-chain arch, 1 single crochet into the third stitch of the first strip, 1 single crochet into the fifth stitch of the first strip, turn.
Continue in this manner, joining the strips and forming wedges according to the sewing pattern.
Widen the wedges by gradually increasing the size of the mesh cells.
Steam the finished pieces.
From the lower strip of 12 squares, crochet a belt in double crochets, 5 cm high.
Sew the upper and lower parts together.
On the belt piece, mark the side lines where the belt loops will be placed.
From the bottom to the top edge of the belt, crochet a chain-loop, secure it, and work 2 rows of single crochet over it.
Crochet edging around the front edges, neckline, bottom edge of the garment, and sleeves as shown in charts A and C.
Cut a fabric belt, reinforce it with fusible interfacing, and sew it.
Sew the decorative buckle and snap button onto the belt.
Thread the satin belt through the crocheted loops.
