Semi-Circular Crochet Tunic
Crochet tunic pattern:
Size: S–L (US 6–12 / UK 8–14)
Materials:
350 g of yarn (69% cotton, 40% polyamide, 130 m / 50 g), crochet hook size 3 mm (US D-3 / UK 11), hairpin lace fork 9 cm wide.
The front and back pieces are worked identically.
Upper part:
Using the hairpin lace fork, crochet 6 strips, each 70 cm long.
Join the two lower strips together with a "braid" connection, catching 4 loops at a time.
Join the third strip to the second one using two rows of arches made of 5 chain stitches each (see Chart 1a).
Edge the upper and lower borders of the resulting three-strip panel following Chart 1b.
Edge the side borders according to Chart 1c.
Join the front and back panels along the shoulder line using 4 rows of arches made of chain stitches (see Chart 1a), leaving a 24 cm opening in the center for the neckline.
Lower part:
Begin by working the central part of the semicircle (Piece I in the schematic).
Attach the yarn to the center of the upper piece and work as follows:
Row 1: Arch made of 10 chain stitches
Row 2: 10 double crochet stitches
Row 3: 20 treble crochet stitches
Rows 4–6: Arches made of 5 chain stitches all around the semicircle
Using the hairpin lace fork, make one strip 40 cm long (Piece II in the schematic) and one strip 60 cm long (Piece III in the schematic).
Join the strips according to Chart 2.
Attach Strip II to Semicircle I.
When doing this, gather 6 loops together at the upper edge of Piece I and 3 loops together at the lower edge.
In Strip III, gather 4 loops together at the upper edge and 3 at the lower edge.
This gathering is necessary to ensure smooth rounding of the strips.
Between the second and third strip, crochet 3 rows of arches made of 5 chain stitches each.
After assembling all pieces, edge the entire lower section with arches made of 5 chain stitches (Piece IV in the schematic).
Then edge the semicircular bottom with 2 rows of single crochet stitches.
Edge the back piece in the same manner.
Finishing:
Sew the side seams by joining the semicircular parts of the front and back starting from the armhole (upper part made from strips) down for 15 cm.
