Pullover crochet motif
SIZE
Directions given are for size Small/Medium (6-10).
Changes for Large (12-16) are in parentheses.
Finished bust: 38 (42) in.
Back length: 18 1/2 (21 1/2 ) in.
Sleeve length: 13 1/2 (14 1/2 ) in. from shoulder to point.
(Note: Garment size is adjusted by changing hook size.)
MATERIALS
Coats & Clark TLCĀ® "Amore" worsted weight yarn (80% acrylic/20% nylon). Article E5I5 (6 oz [170 gm], 290 yds each skein): 2 (3) skeins of #3823 Lake Blue.
Crochet hook size H-8 U.S. for size Small/Medium, size 1-9 U.S. for size Large, or size needed to obtain gauge.Yarn needle.
GAUGE
With smaller hook, first 2 rnds of Motif = 41/2 in. in diameter; Motif = 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 in.
With larger hook, first 2 rnds of Motif = 6 in. in diameter; Motif = 10 1/2 x 10 1/2 in.
STITCHES USED
Chain st (ch).
Slip st [sl st).
Single crochet (sc).
Double crochet (dc).
Treble treble crochet (trtr).
NOTE: Always start with ch 3 instead of first dc or ch 6 instead of first Irtr of rnd.
End with I si st in first sc. third (dc). or sixth (trtr) ch at beg of rnd.
DIRECTIONS
Directions given are for shorter length top as pictured.
For a tunic length top. make 4 more Motifs. 2 for Front and 2 for Back.
Join additional Motifs at bottom edge before working Bottom Edging. 1 additional skein of yarn required.
Front/Back (make 2):
First Motif: Ch 5 and close into a ring with 1 si st in first ch.
Rnd 1: (2 trtr, ch 7) 8 times in ring (8 ch-7 loops), si st in first trtr to join.
Rnd 2: With sl st get to first ch-7 loop, ch 1. 9 sc in each ch-7 loop around (72 sc).
Rnd 3: Ch 1, *  sc in each ot next 8 sc, skip next sc *, rep from * to * around (64 sc).
Rnds 4-5: Ch 1. sc in each sc around (64 sc).
Rnd 6: Ch 1, * sc in each of next 7 sc, ch 5, skip next sc *, rep from * to * around.
Rnd 7: Sl st in next sc, ch 1. * sc in each of next 5 sc, skip next sc, (3 dc, ch 4, 3 dc) in next ch-5 loop, skip next sc, sc in each of next 5 sc. ch 4, skip next sc, sc in next ch-5 loop, ch 4, skip next sc *, rep from * to * around.
Rnd 8: Sl st in next sc, ch 1, * sc in each of next 3 sc, ch 4, skip next sc, (3 dc. ch 4. 3 dc) in next ch-4 loop, skip next sc. sc in each of next 3 sc. ch 4. skip next sc, (sc, ch 4) in each of next 2 ch-4 loops, skip next sc *,  rep from * to * around.
Rnd 9: Sl st in next sc. ch 1, * sc in sc, ch 8, skip next sc, (3 dc, ch 4, 3 dc) in next ch-4 loop, ch 8, skip next sc, sc in next sc. ch 4, (sc, ch 4) in each of next 3 ch-4 loops, skip next sc *, rep from * to * around. Fasten off.
Second and Successive Motifs: Work 3 more Motifs same as First Motif, joining each Motif to previous Motif(s) with 1 si st in each of 8 consecutive and corresponding loops on side edge of Motif(s) (see diagram). Join 4 Motifs in a square for Front and Back foil Construction Diagram. In same manner, join Fronts to Back at sides, starting at lower edge, joining with 1 si st in each of first 7 consecutive and corresponding loops (see diagram). Do not join Front to Back at shoulders.
Sleeve (make 2): Work 1 more Motif same as First Motif, joining one side edge of Sleeve Motif to top Motif on Front and adjacent side edge to top Motif on Back foll Construction Chart for placement, with 1 sl st in each of 8 consecutive and corresponding loops on side edge of Motif(s) (see diagram).
Neck Edging:
Rnd 1: With right side of Back facing, skip first ch-8 loop to the right of left shoulder, join yarn in next sc to the right, ch 1, sc in sc, ch 4, * sc in corresponding sc on Front left shoulder Motif, ch 4, (sc, ch 4) in each of next ch-4 loops on same Motif, sc in next ch-8 loop, ch 4, skip next dc. sc in next dc, ch 4. (sc. ch 4) in each of next 2 joined corner ch 4 loops, skip next dc, sc in next dc. ch 4, sc in next ch-8 loop, (sc, ch 4) in each of next 4 ch-4 loops * sc in next sc, rep from * to * once, sl st in first sc to join.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, * sc in each of next 4 ch sts. ch 4, (sc. ch 4) in each of next 15 ch-4 loops to next shoulder *, rep from * to * once, sl st in first sc to join.
Rnd 3: With si st get to first ch-4 loop, ch 1, (sc. ch 3) in each ch-4 loop around.
Rnd 4: Sl st in first ch-3 loop, ch 1, (sc. ch 2) in each ch-3 loop around. Fasten off.
Bottom Edging:
Rnd 1: With right side facing, join yarn in any ch 4 loop on bottom edge, ch 1, (sc, ch 4) in each ch-4 loop around, working (sc, ch 4, sc. ch 4) in each ch-8 loop.
Rnd 2: Sl st to center of first ch-4 loop, ch 1, (sc. ch 4) in each ch-4 loop around. Fasten off.
