Beret and Scarf with Cables

Beret = 52 cm

Scarf = 15 cm x 180 cm

Materials:

Yarn: 280 g (50% alpaca, 45% wool, 5% Metallised Polyamide, 250 m per 100 g ball); quick knit needles size 2.5 and 3 mm (US 1.5 and 2.5); 1 cable needle.

Rib Pattern: K1, P1 Rib.

Cable Pattern 1 

Work according to chart 1. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear. 

Beg with 1 selv st and sts before patt, rep patt, end with sts after patt and 1 selv st.

Cable Pattern 2 

Work according to chart 2. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows, work all sts as they appear.

Repeat Rows 1-8 throughout.

Diamond Cable Pattern: 

Work according to chart 3. Only RS rows are shown. 

Work Rows 1 - 36 once, then repeat Rows 3 - 36 throughout.

Gauge:

in Cable Patt 1 and 2: 22 sts and 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Beret:

Using needles size 2.5 mm, cast on 116 sts and work 6 rows in Rib Patt. 

Cont with 3 mm needles. Work 56 rows in Cable Pattern 1. Inc and dec sts acc to chart = 13-st patt rep. 

On Row 57, tighten sts with main yarn and fasten off.

Sew seam.

Scarf:

Using 3 mm needles, cast on 44 sts and work 426 rows as foll: P1, 4 sts in Cable Patt 2, 34 sts in Diamond Cable Pattern, 4 sts in Cable Patt 2, P1. 

On Row 427, bind off all sts.
