Long Cardigan with Fancy Pattern

Sizes: 10/12 (US 6/8).

Materials:

400 g of blue yarn and 20 g of white yarn (100% Acrylic, yardage = 400 m/100 g), 1 pair of knit needle size 3 mm (US 2.5), crochet hook size 2.5 mm (US B), 7 buttons.

Stockinette stitch (St st): Work RS rows K and WS rows P.

Garter st (gst): RS and WS rows K.

Fancy Pattern: 

Work according to chart. Only RS rows are shown.

On WS rows work all sts as they appear, purl yos. 

Work rows 1-18 once, then repeat rows 11-18 throughout.

Back: 

Cast on 135 sts and work 4 rows in garter st. 

Cont to work in Fancy Pattern = 4 row reps.

Cont in St st.

Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 48 cm from cast on, at both ends bind off 4 sts and then on every 2nd row 3 sts once, 2 sts twice and 1 st once. 

When piece measures 70 cm from cast on, bind off all sts.

Right Front: 

Cast on 69 sts and work 4 rows in garter st. 

Cont to work in Fancy Pattern = 4 row reps.

Cont as foll: selv st, 12 sts in Fancy Pattern, 56 sts in St st, selv st. 

Work even. 

Armhole Shaping: When piece measures 48 cm from cast on, at left end bind off 4 sts and then on every 2nd row 3 sts once, 2 sts twice and 1 st once.

At the same time, to shape neckline, after sts of Fancy Pattern, dec 1 st 22 times on every 2nd row.

When piece measures 70 cm from cast on, bind off all sts.

Left Front: Work in reverse.

Sleeve: 

Cast on 50 sts and work 4 rows in gst. Inc 19 sts evenly across last row. 

Cont to work in Fancy Pattern = 4 row reps. 

Cont in St st. 

Sleeve Shaping: Inc 1 st each side every 8th row. 

Cap Shaping: When piece measures 40 cm from cast on, at both ends bind off 4 sts and then on every 2nd row 3 sts once, 2 sts twice and 1 st 18 times. 

When piece measures 56 cm from cast on, bind off all sts.

Finishing: 

Close shoulder seams. 

Sew sleeve seams and set in sleeves. 

Along side edges of fronts and neckline, with crochet hook, work 4 rnds sc while opening buttonholes evenly spaced on right front with chain sts. 

With crochet hook and white yarn, work 1 row crab st (= sc from left to right) evenly around bottom edge of cardigan, side edges of fronts, neckline and bottom edges of sleeves. 

Sew on buttons.
